Enjoying the last of suns rays on at wild camping trip in the English Lake District |
Wild camping in the Lake District near Ullswater
This is a relatively short post and I just wanted to share some images from an idyllic wild camping spot quite near Ullswater which was perfect to watch the setting sun illuminate the surrounding Lake District fells. There's nothing quite like the peace and quiet of being perched up a Lake District mountain away from everything where the only sounds are the wind and distant waterfalls and bird song. Here's a few photos of this particular trip to a camp on Pikeawassa, in Martindale near Ullswater.

The warm glow of the evening sun illuminates this distinctive Lake Dstrict peak |
|
It was quite a rocky summit but just about space for a tent |
|
It's quite an exposed spot - but on this particular evening of the wild camp there wasn't much wind |
|
Stunning distant views of Ullswater |

A camp spot pitched to take in the glorious surrounding Lake District Fells |

The sky sets on fire as the sun disappears |

What a special sight and there's nobody else around at all to see it |
|
The night draws in and it's time to retire to the warmth of the tent |
I hope this blog post has now made you want to try a wild camp in the Lake District - honestly it's bucket list stuff and something to do at least once. If this has inspired you to try a wild camp - then please please follow the wild camping code, pitch high and away from any forms of civilisation, pitch late and leave early and most importantly please leave no trace that you where ever there!

Please keep our amazing natural spaces looking exactly how you found them and not give wild campers a bad reputation
