One of the best views in Yorkshire from the top of Sutton Bank toking across Whitestone Cliff and Gormire Lake |
Walk overview:
Distance: 2.5 miles
Time: 1.5-2 hours with stops
Difficulty: Moderate. Whilst relatively short and the start of the walk being very easy - when you go down towards Gormire Lake and back out of it - it can be fairly steep - but nothing too hard (imagine walking up stairs for 10 minutes :-)
A short 2.5 mile walk to take in the best view Sutton Bank has to offer
This is one of the shortest posts I'll make as I've already blogged about a similar, but longer walking route from Sutton Bank which takes in most of this route but includes the White Horse too - which can be found here
This route though is one I revisit time and again as it's fairly short - but it takes in my best view in Yorkshire and then decends through woodland to the tranquil Gormire Lake, and then its a fairly steep walk back up to the Sutton bank Visitor centre. I've done it in just over an an hour but give yourself a couple of hours to admire the views (especially my favourite Yorkshire view - which is at the tip of the blue arrow on the map below) - and then take a stop at Gormire Lake as its quite sheltered and peaceful here even on the windiest of days)
Here you can see that the route starts pretty high - and then dips into Gormire Lake and then you have a fairly steep walk back out of it. It's a short walk though so don't let that put you off :-) |
