Review of the log cabins with hot tubs at Whispering Waters in Gainford, Teesdale
I've visited the wooden lodges at Whispering Waters in Gainford twice now and that goes some way to show what I think of them - they are some of the best lodges or log cabins with hot tubs that I've stayed at on holiday. I'm always on the lookout for some great places to holiday at and when I first discovered these eco lodges I just had to give them a visit as they are something a little different from the typical lodges with hot tubs. Read on to learn what I think of Whispering Waters along with some photos to give you a taste of the place:
What first attracted me to the lodges at Whispering Waters was their architectural construction and eco-credentials with the green roofs and other eco-friendly features. Also the fact that Whispering Waters is only a small development of 3 lodges meant it would be a quiet location and the perfect lodge escape |
Secondly I loved the fact that the lodges had south facing floor to ceiling glass windows & doors which meant stunning private views out on the surrounding greenery and they are literally a stones throw to the River Tees which you can hear flowing by, hence the name of the lodges I guess! |
With large private balconys and a nice seating area you really feel connected to nature and the outdoors here and you can see the River Tees flowing gently by |
The hut tubs in each lodge at Whispering Waters are also private, not over looked by anyone and you feel like you are bathing in very natural surroundings |
Inside the lodges at Whispering Waters you'll find modern decor, comfy seating and a small kitchen with everything you'll need to make a perfect stay. The lodges are heated by underfloor heating, but you'll also find a wood burning stove. I've visited many lodges and glamping pods, but the combination of big glass windows, private balcony, wood burning stove and hot tub is big plus and not one you'll find in many places |
I loved how the big glass windows really connected the inside to the outside and filled the lodges with plenty of natural light |
The lodges also have large flat screen smart TV's with good wifi connection so you can catch up with whatever you please! |
The main bedroom is simply decorated which draws your eye even more to the stunning views out the windows - what an amazing sight to wake up to on a morning. Note roller blinds can be used to give privacy and block out the light if needs be! There is also ample storage and cupboards for your stay in each bedroom |
What a view from your bed at Whispering Waters - I'd never tire of waking up with this view and witnessing the changing seasons |
Here is the main bathroom - spacious, clean, modern and complete with piping hot shower |
The 2nd bedroom is at the opposite end of the lodge and again has good views and also an en-suite bathroom with shower & toilet. |
The kitchen has everything you need: sink, oven, small fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster. coffee machine with all kitchen utensils you'll need. You'll also be given some goodies for your stay: tea/coffee, milk, orange juice, and biscuits! |
There's nothing quite like the sound of a crackling fire to relax away an evening. Some wood is supplied but I'd suggest bring an extra bag on a three night stay. |
You'll get great views from the hot tub whether day or night! |

Whispering Waters lodges review summary
As you can see the lodges at Whispering Waters are simply stunning and I rate them highly. I limit what I review on my blog to only things I would happily recommend to friends - and I have recommended these lodges to friends and family who have visited and been equally impressed! That says it all really. It's a dream of mine to own a lodge one day - and the lodges at Whispering Waters are the closest Ive come across to how I'd have my lodge! If you like what the images you see on this review, and are looking for a tranquil escape in this part of England in County Durham or close to Yorkshire, then I highly recommend Whispering Waters!
Happy Holidays!
