Popular walking trails around Uath Lochan

Uath Lochan Trail:

The Uath Lochan Trail is a delightful, clearly marked, circular walk, or varying lengths that winds its way around the lochan. This easy-to-moderate trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, especially from Farleitter Crag, and the chance to spot local wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, and a variety of bird species. The path is well-maintained, and benches are scattered along the route, providing opportunities to pause and soak in the serenity of the surroundings. Badenoch Way:

For those seeking a longer adventure, the Badenoch Way is a fantastic option. This 26-mile long-distance trail begins in Aviemore and ends in Newtonmore, passing by Uath Lochan along the way. The trail takes you through diverse terrain, including forests, moorland, and riverside paths, offering a true Highland experience. It is recommended to divide the trail into several days, allowing ample time to fully immerse yourself in the remarkable scenery and connect with nature.

Creag Dubh Trail:

A short drive from Uath Lochan, the Creag Dubh Trail provides an exhilarating ascent to the summit of Creag Dubh. As you climb, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Cairngorms, the Spey Valley, and even the Ben Nevis mountain range on a clear day. Farleitter Crag walk - a quick route with the best views

This short walk to Farleitter Crag is an absolute gem of a route and only 2.8 miles and gives that superb view at the top of the page. It's on an easy to follow path as long as you take the correct paths at the various junctions. It's also a good walk to do as a bit of a leg stretcher if your making a long drive to Inverness as it's not far off the A9. Click the button below to view the full interactive map route.
