A nice quiet walk near Osmotherley around Thimbleby Moor

This is a cracking little walk near Osmotherley in North Yorkshire around Thimbleby Moor and is something a little different if you are very familiar with other more well known walks in the area. I made this route up when we were in the area on a very windy day and we wanted something that was a bit sheltered so a lot of it is in woodland. It starts at the popular Square Corner car park spot near Osmotherley, and you'll soon head into the woodland. The last part of it is along the Cleveland Way via Oak Dale reservoir where you'll get some superb views.

Osmotherley Walk Overview:

Walk Distance: 4.1 miles (6.6km)

Walk time: 1.5-2hours

Walk difficulty: Easy

Walk near Osmotherley Map route:

The walk starts at Square Corner (plenty of space for about 20 cars and its free!) It goes in a clockwise direction - first on the Cleveland Way towards Hambleton Hill and then into Silton Forest on clearly marked paths. From there your into the Thimbleby Bank woodland plantation and then you'll eventually rejoin the Cleveland Way.

You start quite high up on this walk so there's not much uphill sections and its quote easy. You'll get some good views too at the various vantage points.

It's a windy day, so the forest is a perfect place to stop and have a cuppa!

Much of the walk is in lovely varied woodland and we're in Big Wood here and nearly at Oak Dale reservoir

I hope you found this little write-up useful and gives you another idea for a walk near Osmotherley.
