The stunning waterfall at Wain Wath Force is what attracted me to this area in the first place (I love a bit of wild swimming) and there are lots of other waterfalls on this short walk |
Keld Waterfall Walk in the Yorkshire DalesThe village of Keld in the Yorkshire Dales in Upper Swaledale is one of my favourite places in the full Yorkshire Dales. Because of it's relative remoteness it remains quite an unspoilt and quite place. There's some lovely waterfalls in this area to visit, some which are perfect for Wild Swimming too such as my favourite, Wain Wath Force. This walk let's you visit 4 of the best waterfalls in the area.

This nice little waterfall walk starts at the village of Keld - heads east along the Pennine Way to Kisdon Force, which is the trickiest to get to as you need to watch out for the gap in the wall and then follow a steep path down to the lower falls. You then retrace your steps for a short distance, cross the River Swale over the footbridge to see East Gil Force at East Stoneside - then you head to Catrake Force & Currack Force on the northern path on the River Swale and then cross another bridge over the River Swale onto Wain Wath Force, which is my favourite of all the waterfalls on this walk (and an idyllic place for wild swimming). It's an easy walk back along the minor quiet road back to Keld. Click the button below to view the full route. |
If you don't have a Phone Map App - I really recommend the one by Ordnance Survey. You can download route maps to your phone such as this one and the app will show you exactly where you are on the route even when you have no signal - so no more taking a wrong turn :-)

East Gill Force is one of the smaller waterfalls on this route but its a very photogenic place. |
Wain Wath Force is the last waterfall on this walk and the perfect place to stop for a while and enjoy the scenery. It's also a great place for wild swimming if you fancy cooling off :-) |
So there you are - a bit of a short blog post form me, but I hope it inspires you to want to do this stunning Yorkshire waterfall walk
