#6. Tackle one of the Lake District's famous ridge walks - Striding Edge or Sharp Edge
|
Striding Edge en-route to Helvellyn is one of the Lakes most popular ridge walks and every serious hiker to the Lake District should give it a go. It may look precarious from a distance but it looks worse than it actually is once you are on Striding Edge and is quite safe. In good weather you'll need no specialist equipment other than good walking boots and may have to use your hands a few times. There are multiple paths you can take on Striding Edge, either right on the ridge top or less exposed paths to the side. It certainly offers something a bit different to your usual walk up a hill and is a good sense of achievement once you have completed it. I've created a dedicated blog post for advice on the best walking route to take, check out this Helvellyn walk via Striding Edge |
#7. GoApe at Grizedale or Whinlatter Forest |
|
GoApe is a national outdoor adventure company and they have 2 locations in the Lake District, In Grizedale Forest & Whinlatter Forest, where you can have fun amongst the tree tops walking across high-rise bridges, jump onto cargo nets and zip wire through the forest. The Lake District has perhaps some of the best Wild Swimming locations in the whole of the Uk, from big lakes, to little tarns perched up a mountain to rivers, streams and deep plunge pools. Pictured above is Blackmoss Pot in Langstrath Beck where you can jump from 6m Cliffs into deep pools. But there are lots of others places too, check out www.wildswimming.co.uk/northern-england/lake-district-and-cumbria |

#10. Climb Scafell Pike - England's Highest Mountain
|
Last but not least, anyone in search of adventure in the Lake District will want to walk to the top of England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike! On a clear day the views are magnificent. There are quite a few walking routes up to Scafell Pike (the most popular from Wasdale) - but the route from Seathwaite via the Corridor Route is the best in my humble opinion. You may well only ever climb Scafell Pike once in your life, so make sure you choose the best route - and I've created this blog post to show you the route I prefer: The best Scafell Pike walk via the Corridor Route from Seathwaite

Insurance for adventure & outdoor activities - make sure you don't have a personal injury!
Before I go - make sure whatever you do that any company you choose is fully legal and has suitable adventure & outdoor activity insurance in case of personal injury. Even with the best safety systems in place injuries are not uncommon in the outdoor activity industry, making outdoor activity insurance a highly beneficial legal cover for businesses to have. The correct insurance will cover costs in claims, including personal accidents & injuries. So do your background checks!
