My pic of the superb Hotel le Petit Dru, an idyllic French Chalet in Morzine.

A review of the hotel I stayed in on our skiing trip to Morzine in France
This blog is typically about hiking and other outdoor adventures. But as I do a lot of travelling, often staying over in a variety of accommodation types, whether camping in the wilds or on campsites, or in b&b's and more luxurious hotels at a variety of budgets - I am now going to start sharing info about the places I stay in that I would recommend to others - as I know making a choice for places to stay can be a tough one!
I was really impressed by the hotel we stayed in on a recent skiing trip to Morzine, so much so that I wanted to share a bit of info about it.
If you are looking to plan a trip to Morzine, either in the winter skiing, or even in the summer months when hiking or mountain biking, then I would highly recommend Hotel le Petit Dru, and I'd happily stay here again (which is how I judge a good hotel). In February 2016 we booked 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, one of the few hotels you can stay at less than a week. The hotel caters well for larger groups, but equally there were couples and families who stayed here too, with a good mix of Brits & French I would say. A couple of people I spoke too had stayed here before which I guess says a lot too.

This is the view from our balcony - pretty special eh! You can just about see the start of the Rue du Bourg street in the centre of the pic where the red shop front is. Dixies Irish bar (great for Apres Ski) was next door to this place. You can also make out the wobbly bridge spanning the gorge to the left of the church clock. |
Verdict
I judge places based on would I stay here again? And the answer is most definitely yes - I couldn't ask for more from a hotel on a skiing holiday.
More info
To find out more on the hotel, including rates, you can visit the hotel website over at www.lepetitdru.com/en/ - or you can also book online on booking.com (which is what we done with a small deposit) or I guess through other popular travel booking sites.
