The canon s100 - a perfect compact camera for landscape photography

You might be suprised to know that I use a compact camera for my photos, rather than a bigger DSLR - but I need a camera which can be whipped out the pocket easily and quickly on my walks. I like to travel as light as possible, and it was becoming a bit of a pain lugging a DSLR around and having to stop and get it out the bag everytime I wanted a picture. But this little beauty can be kept in the pocket - and easily whipped out for a snap happy photographer like me who likes to document as much as possible!

I done a lot of research before getting this camera - as I wanted quality images - and I ended up getting the canon s100 and I haven't been disappointed.

In terms of a general description of features - The canons100 has an excellent wide angle lens - which is perfect for landscapes as you can fit more of the scene in that on a typical 35mm equivalent. Pretty much all good landscape photographers use a wider angle lense.

The camera also has a built in natural density filter - which really helps bring the skies come to life. It also has manual features, such as control of aperture and shutter speed (which is great for long exposures of waterfalls and the like. You can also shoot in RAW format - again good for post processing. It also has lots of automatic settings - so you are pretty much guaranteed a good image whatever your skill level.

For me this is the best compact on the market for landscape photography and I would highly recommend it, either as your main camera on walks, or as a supplement to your DSLR which you can save for the really spectacular compositions.
